Here’s how your BFF Girl Friday sees it: your WordPress site is the center of your marketing efforts…it’s the center of the daisy, the jelly in the donut, the Malcom in the Middle…you get the picture. And Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and even (outbound) Email Campaigns, which can now be integrated with your social media tools, are the pathways that lead new visitors and clients to that website.
There are literally hundreds of WordPress plugins that are designed especially for using social media tools to flow visitors to your site. And remember: your site is your Home…your social media is the road leading to your Home! Sort of like the Yellow Brick Road leading to Oz, or the …well, again, you get the picture!
“BUT WAIT! Girl Friday,” you say. “It’s overwhelming, and I don’t have time to learn all that social media stuff and who needs it anyway! I’ve got enough going on, jeepers criminey grits!” and honey, I hear ya. You don’t need ALL of the social media tools available. Just pick one, and be really consistent with it. WordPress makes it easy.
Depending on the goals you have for your WordPress website, make sure to choose an appropriate social marketing tool, one that speaks directly to your target audience. For example, if you are a financial planner whose clients are all 65 years and older, do you think they’re hanging out on Twitter all day?? Um…nooooooo…they’re on the golf course enjoying the fruits of your labor! Better to send them a nice email blast that’s easy for them to click open, read, and be directed with links to their online financial portfolio or what-have-you.
But if you’re a boutique winery, brewery, restaurant or nightclub, you can bet your sweet bippy that your customers are Twittering away or using FourSquare to communicate to friends about your newest beer, lunch special or live music offering, so you better be on it!
There are lots of SMART ways to use social media tools efficiently and effectively, and with measurable results. WordPress figured that out long ago and is constantly developing more and easier ways to integrate them into your website! Once you have your WordPress ‘home’ set up, and your social media plan in place, it’s simply a matter of time management to use those tools wisely and with great results.
Got a question? Send me an email! Now go out there and Socialize, baby!
