Themes are sort of like a template structure, but in WordPress they are waaaaaay better because you can customize Themes using CSS (Cascading Style Sheets), Style Managers, or even better: you can create your own Themes.

Plug-ins do gorgeous things, as I just mentioned, and they also do very important, code-based maintenance, SEO, updating and blahblahblah BOR-ing stuff, too (important and necessary functions that make WordPress SO freakin’ cool!)
